‘Medical Fraternity Most Intelligent Minds of Society: Dr Syed Abid Rasheed Shah

Jammu, January 20: Two days State Conference with navigate CME and workshop on Scientific paper writing in Medical Journal commence at GMC, Jammu.

Administrative Secretary, Health and Medical Education, Dr Syed Aabid Rasheed Shah,  was the chief guest on the occasion. In his inaugural address, he said that the medical fraternity represent the most intelligent minds of the society and they need to be given due respect and one and all should maintain their respect honour and pride. He said there is dire need to reform the medical curriculum. And the student both undergraduates and post graduates should focus more on skill learning and should change the format of their studies which primarily is being governed by gadgets and artificial intelligence. And attendance should be stressed by the HODs. And clinical bedside teaching should be focused more in their training curriculum. DR. SHAKTI KUMAR GUPTA, EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR & CEO AIIMS, JAMMU was GUEST OF HONOUR he in his address said that both the institutions need to work collectively to attain excellence in the medical field in this region and such scientific events should be collectively hosted more oftenly for the faculty development in interaction between the faculty of both the institution. DR. M ASHRAF GANIE SUB DEAN RESEARCH SKIMS, SRINAGAR J&K CONVENER, JK LADAKH, NAMS CHAPTER said the National Academy of Medical Science (NAMS) was established in 1961 by the government of India to support and promote science, academics, and research across the medical fraternity in India. Recently, the J& K and Ladakh chapter of NAMS has been constituted with Prof. M Ashraf Ganie sub-dean research SKIMS, Srinagar, J&K, who has been nominated as state convener of NAMS and Prof. Dr. Vishal R. Tandon has been conferred with the responsibility of state nodal officer.

In the original paper category, Dr. Nair Furqan, SR Surgery, GMC, Jammu bagged first prize, Dr. Amarjit SR Pharmacology, GMC, Jammu bagged 2nd prize and Dr. Navneet Naz, AP Pathology, GMC, Jammu bagged 3rd prize. Further Dr. Heemal Koul, PG Community Medicine, GMC, Jammu bagged first prize and Dr. Burhaan Hamid PG Community Medicine bagged 2nd prize and Dr. Vipan Khajuria, PG Ophthalmology, ASSCOMS, Jammu bagged 3rd prize.

MEDICAL COLLEGE, JAMMU ORGANIZING CHAIRMAN, JK LADAKH NAMSCON said that many innovative steps has been taken for uplifting the GMC, Jammu like start of State Cancer Institute, Bone & Joint Hospital, evening rounds of the senior doctors, mortality meets, green cooridors of the institution, PET Scan, new MRI and many patients welfare and medical fraternity steps have been taken. He presented the mortality data and said this will help to prepare the health strategies.

Dr. Vishal Tandon, State Nodal Officer NAMS said that the Galaxy of eminent speakers. More than 85 from various specialties will be  delivering  guest lectures in the said conference. The delegates more than  600 offline and online within the UT of J&K and Ladakh and across the country are  participating. I am indeed happy to inform that more than 150 original research papers will be deliberated. Further workshop on scientific paper writing will be held for our postgraduates and undergraduates which will be convened by leading top editors of medical journal of the country.
